Hearts

Hearts.....it is amazing how important one little organ is that is only the size of your hand or so. It is also amazing how many different ways it can NOT WORK right. It doesn't just have an on and off switch. Just spent the other night in the ER with Julie (twin,19, Asuza Pacific art major). Her heart desided to work overtime...When we arrived her heart rate was 284 beats per min. After taking blood, placing all the tabs for the monitors, and getting a fast IV started...they pumped her with some medicine to help her heart slow down. It worked pretty fast and got it down to 94 - 117. So then they gave her pills to take to slow it down some more. Now we wait a week to see the heart specialist to see why it does what it does. Since she was little she has had this type of problem... mostly after exercise but this time while laying and watching a movie. Dad said she was just so excited to get up tomorrow and paint with him. When she was little she used to throw up or pass out after a "spell." We were also never able to record with a dr. what was happening till Wed. night. So after living with this thing for 19 years they finally believe her and me. It was lucky that her two days off are Thurs. and Fri. so she has some time to rest from the ordeal. Now if only I can catch up on missed sleep and worry..... such is the life of MoM.
