Creative kids, creative memories
Weekend adventures or should I say weekend with children? Saturday the children (three youngest ones) attended a birthday party at the beach with Julie and their MoM. We rush home to shower before going to church. To save time and water I decided that the two boys should quickly shower together in the back bathroom. Rachel meanders in and I ask her to check on the boys, rinse them quickly, and get them out of the shower so they will dress. She comes and ask if the boys had been given a recent haircut, and not been brushed off. No, I replied upon which she went back to rinse hair off the boys from whom knows where. She returns to show me globs of hair from the boys and ask, "Could the boys be sick? Their hair is coming out in blobs. Robert has told her that they are scrubbing their hair so hard it is falling out. I begin to worry for indeed her hands are covered in small chunks of hair. I say we will check on it later just help the boys get dressed. Time is running out to get to church on time.
While drying Robert starts to complain of how his thumb and fingers have small scratches on them. We think how could this be? Could something have happened from the beach? Suddenly, I think small scratches on fingers and hand, a funny scratch down the front of his nose, patches of hair coming out, two small boys showering together, in the shower now shared by their college brother who carelessly (from a lack of previous need to) leaves such things around as a razor. Upon which I run to the bathroom and look at the boys myself. They have honored their brother by mimicing him. They took turns using his razor and shaving. I ask two innocent looking boys if they have been playing with their brothers razor. They reply no, they were just shaving like Jonathan does. Hey MoM, did you know that that thing cuts hair. Upon closer examination....Andrew (5) has removed 1/2 of his left eyebrow and at least three large sections of hair. Robert (8) has two or three smaller sections of hair that are shorter and thin, and a small scrap down the ridge of his nose. Try as I might, I can not controll the laughter, nor the laughter of all the college siblings to preform some kind of discipline. Robert shaved his nose cause he wanted to see what it looked like he exclaims as he crosses his eyes looking down the nose. They were nice and even took turns, Robert announces. Here is the very funny part. Dad has just announced that tomorrow we will be taking family pictures. Something always happens when he says that. Oh well, another memory to add to my memory album. Just when I thought nothing new could be pulled by kids or at least my kids.
By the way, Jonathan and his razor have moved out to the college kids apartment on Sun. It finally became vacant. Thank heavens!
